# Shovel Pirate vs Faces+

The clearest difference is ads: Shovel Pirate at none against Faces+'s shown. Shovel Pirate also leads on ratings volume (37 vs 9). Faces+'s advantage is rating (4.6 vs 4.1) and monetization model (free with in-app purchases vs paid). On price, review sentiment, in-app purchases and device support there is nothing between them.

Both are free to download. Shovel Pirate sells 1 one-off in-app purchase and Faces+ sells 1 one-off in-app purchase. Whichever you choose, the download price is not the number that matters.

Faces+ holds the better App Store score, 4.6 against 4.1. Both are backed by a comparable volume of ratings — 37 and 9 respectively. Written reviews complicate that: 72% of Shovel Pirate's written reviews are positive against 67% of Faces+'s, so the app with the better star average is not the one people write more warmly about.
