# Speech to Text vs Youtube Transcripts

The clearest difference is review sentiment: Speech to Text at 100% against Youtube Transcripts's 44%. Youtube Transcripts's advantage is rating (4.6 vs 3.9) and ratings volume (176 vs 7). On price, update cadence, ads and in-app purchases there is nothing between them.

Both are free to download. Speech to Text sells 7 in-app purchases, starting at $2.99 per month and Youtube Transcripts sells 11 in-app purchases, starting at $5.99 per 7 days. Whichever you choose, the download price is not the number that matters.

Youtube Transcripts holds the better App Store score, 4.6 against 3.9. That said, the two scores are not equally well evidenced: Youtube Transcripts has 176 ratings behind it against 7, so its average is the more settled of the two. Written reviews complicate that: 100% of Speech to Text's written reviews are positive against 44% of Youtube Transcripts's, so the app with the better star average is not the one people write more warmly about.

Speech to Text ships an update every 3 weeks, Youtube Transcripts every 2 weeks. The most recent releases landed on October 13, 2026 and October 19, 2026 respectively.
