# TextToNext vs Riley

The clearest difference is in-app purchases: TextToNext at none against Riley's 9. TextToNext also leads on rating (5.0 vs 4.5) and update cadence (every 2 days vs every 6 days). Riley's advantage is ratings volume (151 vs 1) and review sentiment (76% vs 59%). On price and ads there is nothing between them.

Both are free to download. Riley sells 9 in-app purchases, starting at $7.99 per month. TextToNext asks for nothing beyond the download.

TextToNext holds the better App Store score, 5.0 against 4.5. That said, the two scores are not equally well evidenced: Riley has 151 ratings behind it against 1, so its average is the more settled of the two. Written reviews complicate that: 59% of TextToNext's written reviews are positive against 76% of Riley's, so the app with the better star average is not the one people write more warmly about.

TextToNext ships an update every 2 days, Riley every 6 days. The most recent releases landed on November 4, 2026 and October 31, 2026 respectively.
