# HeatShort vs ShortBox

The clearest difference is rating: ShortBox at 4.8 against HeatShort's 3.0. ShortBox also leads on monetization model (free with in-app purchases vs subscription) and ratings volume (125 vs 4). HeatShort's advantage is ads (none vs shown). On price, review sentiment, update cadence and in-app purchases there is nothing between them.

Both are free to download. HeatShort sells 18 in-app purchases, starting at $24.99 per 7 days and ShortBox sells 3 in-app purchases, starting at $2.99 per 7 days. Whichever you choose, the download price is not the number that matters.

ShortBox holds the better App Store score, 4.8 against 3.0. That said, the two scores are not equally well evidenced: ShortBox has 125 ratings behind it against 4, so its average is the more settled of the two. Written reviews point the same way: 19% of HeatShort's written reviews are positive against 20% of ShortBox's.

HeatShort ships an update every 8 days, ShortBox every 9 days. The most recent releases landed on October 24, 2026 and October 23, 2026 respectively.
