# Writetastic vs Mindscope 2

The clearest difference is monetization model: Mindscope 2 at free with in-app purchases against Writetastic's subscription. Mindscope 2 also leads on device support (4 vs 2). Writetastic's advantage is update cadence (every 2 days vs every 3 weeks). On price, rating, ratings volume and ads there is nothing between them.

Both are free to download. Writetastic sells 1 in-app purchase, starting at $5.99 per month and Mindscope 2 sells 3 in-app purchases, starting at $1.99 per month. Whichever you choose, the download price is not the number that matters.

Writetastic ships an update every 2 days, Mindscope 2 every 3 weeks. The most recent releases landed on October 4, 2026 and October 5, 2026 respectively.
