# Compass vs Compass Max

The clearest difference is rating: Compass Max at 5.0 against Compass's 4.1. Compass Max also leads on monetization model (freemium vs subscription) and update cadence (every 2 days vs every 5 days). Compass's advantage is ratings volume (222 vs 1) and iOS requirement (14.0 vs 16.6). On price, ads, in-app purchases and device support there is nothing between them.

Both are free to download. Compass sells 4 in-app purchases, starting at $4.99 per 7 days and Compass Max sells 2 in-app purchases, starting at $2.99 per 7 days. Whichever you choose, the download price is not the number that matters.

Compass Max holds the better App Store score, 5.0 against 4.1. That said, the two scores are not equally well evidenced: Compass has 222 ratings behind it against 1, so its average is the more settled of the two.

Compass ships an update every 5 days, Compass Max every 2 days. The most recent releases landed on October 21, 2026 and October 4, 2026 respectively.
