# Brain Training vs BrainGain

The clearest difference is review sentiment: BrainGain at 62% against Brain Training's 7%. BrainGain also leads on rating (4.7 vs 4.2) and ratings volume (22K vs 1.2K). On price, update cadence, ads and in-app purchases there is nothing between them.

Both are free to download. Brain Training sells 10 in-app purchases, starting at $6.99 per 7 days and BrainGain sells 13 in-app purchases, starting at $6.99 per 7 days. Whichever you choose, the download price is not the number that matters.

BrainGain holds the better App Store score, 4.7 against 4.2. That said, the two scores are not equally well evidenced: BrainGain has 22K ratings behind it against 1.2K, so its average is the more settled of the two. Written reviews point the same way: 7% of Brain Training's written reviews are positive against 62% of BrainGain's.

Brain Training ships an update every 3 weeks, BrainGain fortnightly. The most recent releases landed on October 20, 2026 and October 22, 2026 respectively.
