# Open Squash vs IntelliReferee

The clearest difference is in-app purchases: Open Squash at none against IntelliReferee's 1. Open Squash also leads on ratings volume (26 vs 4) and iOS requirement (15.1 vs 17). IntelliReferee's advantage is update cadence (fortnightly vs every 6 weeks) and rating (5.0 vs 4.8). On price, ads and device support there is nothing between them.

Both are free to download. IntelliReferee sells 1 in-app purchase, starting at $9.99 per month. Open Squash asks for nothing beyond the download.

IntelliReferee holds the better App Store score, 5.0 against 4.8. That said, the two scores are not equally well evidenced: Open Squash has 26 ratings behind it against 4, so its average is the more settled of the two.

Open Squash ships an update every 6 weeks, IntelliReferee fortnightly. The most recent releases landed on October 15, 2026 and September 22, 2026 respectively.
