# Chess vs General's Gambit

The clearest difference is device support: Chess at 4 against General's Gambit's 2. Chess also leads on iOS requirement (15.6 vs 18.0). On price, update cadence, ads and in-app purchases there is nothing between them.

Both are free to download. Chess sells 6 one-off in-app purchases and General's Gambit sells 1 one-off in-app purchase. Whichever you choose, the download price is not the number that matters.

Chess ships an update every 7 months, General's Gambit every 4 months. The most recent releases landed on October 25, 2026 and October 30, 2026 respectively.
