# Bites vs FirstStep School

The clearest difference is in-app purchases: FirstStep School at none against Bites's 10. FirstStep School also leads on rating (5.0 vs 4.6) and iOS requirement (15.0 vs 17.0). Bites's advantage is ratings volume (2.1K vs 3) and update cadence (fortnightly vs monthly). On price, ads and device support there is nothing between them.

Both are free to download. Bites sells 9 in-app purchases, starting at $6.99 per 7 days. FirstStep School asks for nothing beyond the download.

FirstStep School holds the better App Store score, 5.0 against 4.6. That said, the two scores are not equally well evidenced: Bites has 2.1K ratings behind it against 3, so its average is the more settled of the two.

Bites ships an update fortnightly, FirstStep School monthly. The most recent releases landed on October 12, 2026 and October 6, 2026 respectively.
