# CalMatters vs TapIn UCD

The clearest difference is review sentiment: TapIn UCD at 83% against CalMatters's 50%. TapIn UCD also leads on update cadence (every 4 days vs every 2 weeks) and monetization model (free vs ad-supported). CalMatters's advantage is rating (5.0 vs 4.8) and chart position (#193 vs unranked). On price, ratings volume, ads and in-app purchases there is nothing between them.

Both are free to download. Neither carries in-app purchases, so what you see is what you pay.

CalMatters holds the better App Store score, 5.0 against 4.8. Both are backed by a comparable volume of ratings — 18 and 14 respectively. Written reviews complicate that: 50% of CalMatters's written reviews are positive against 83% of TapIn UCD's, so the app with the better star average is not the one people write more warmly about.
