# Mortar Defense vs Command & Defend

The clearest difference is rating: Command & Defend at 4.4 against Mortar Defense's 4.1. Command & Defend also leads on ratings volume (4.7K vs 243) and update cadence (fortnightly vs monthly). On price, review sentiment, ads and in-app purchases there is nothing between them.

Both are free to download. Mortar Defense sells 13 in-app purchases, starting at $5.99 per 7 days and Command & Defend sells 26 one-off in-app purchases. Whichever you choose, the download price is not the number that matters.

Command & Defend holds the better App Store score, 4.4 against 4.1. That said, the two scores are not equally well evidenced: Command & Defend has 4.7K ratings behind it against 243, so its average is the more settled of the two. Written reviews complicate that: 19% of Mortar Defense's written reviews are positive against 16% of Command & Defend's, so the app with the better star average is not the one people write more warmly about.

Mortar Defense ships an update monthly, Command & Defend fortnightly. Both last shipped on October 30, 2026.
