# Shimmerly vs VAELO

The clearest difference is ads: VAELO at none against Shimmerly's shown. VAELO also leads on rating (5.0 vs 4.6). Shimmerly's advantage is ratings volume (1.1K vs 2) and update cadence (every 5 days vs monthly). On price, in-app purchases, monetization model and device support there is nothing between them.

Both are free to download. Shimmerly sells 7 in-app purchases, starting at $3.99 per 7 days and VAELO sells 2 in-app purchases, starting at $9.99 per month. Whichever you choose, the download price is not the number that matters.

VAELO holds the better App Store score, 5.0 against 4.6. That said, the two scores are not equally well evidenced: Shimmerly has 1.1K ratings behind it against 2, so its average is the more settled of the two.

Shimmerly ships an update every 5 days, VAELO monthly. The most recent releases landed on October 25, 2026 and October 9, 2026 respectively.
