# Writing App vs OCR Image AI

Writing App and OCR Image AI both sit at 4.6 stars, but that hides the real split: 50% of OCR Image AI's written reviews are positive against 25% of Writing App's. OCR Image AI also leads on update cadence (every 5 days vs every 2 weeks) and iOS requirement (12.0 vs 26.0). On price, rating, ratings volume and ads there is nothing between them.

Both are free to download. Writing App sells 6 in-app purchases, starting at $4.99 per 7 days and OCR Image AI sells 3 in-app purchases, starting at $5.99 per 7 days. Whichever you choose, the download price is not the number that matters.

Writing App holds the better App Store score, 4.6 against 4.5. Both are backed by a comparable volume of ratings — 92 and 61 respectively. Written reviews complicate that: 25% of Writing App's written reviews are positive against 50% of OCR Image AI's, so the app with the better star average is not the one people write more warmly about.

Writing App ships an update every 2 weeks, OCR Image AI every 5 days. The most recent releases landed on October 24, 2026 and October 20, 2026 respectively.
