# Writing App vs Field Area

The clearest difference is rating: Field Area at 5.0 against Writing App's 4.6. Field Area also leads on iOS requirement (18.0 vs 26.0). Writing App's advantage is ratings volume (92 vs 1). On price, update cadence, ads and in-app purchases there is nothing between them.

Both are free to download. Writing App sells 6 in-app purchases, starting at $4.99 per 7 days and Field Area sells 1 one-off in-app purchase. Whichever you choose, the download price is not the number that matters.

Field Area holds the better App Store score, 5.0 against 4.6. That said, the two scores are not equally well evidenced: Writing App has 92 ratings behind it against 1, so its average is the more settled of the two.

Writing App ships an update every 2 weeks, Field Area weekly. The most recent releases landed on October 30, 2026 and November 5, 2026 respectively.
