# Sphinx Code vs SmackT

The clearest difference is rating: SmackT at 5.0 against Sphinx Code's 3.4. SmackT also leads on monetization model (free vs free with in-app purchases) and device support (3 vs 1). Sphinx Code's advantage is ratings volume (10 vs 1). On price, update cadence, ads and in-app purchases there is nothing between them.

Both are free to download. Sphinx Code sells 2 in-app purchases, starting at $9.99 per month and SmackT sells 3 one-off in-app purchases. Whichever you choose, the download price is not the number that matters.

SmackT holds the better App Store score, 5.0 against 3.4. That said, the two scores are not equally well evidenced: Sphinx Code has 10 ratings behind it against 1, so its average is the more settled of the two.

Sphinx Code ships an update every 8 days, SmackT fortnightly. The most recent releases landed on October 16, 2026 and October 11, 2026 respectively.
