# Olight vs Caramel

The clearest difference is review sentiment: Caramel at 100% against Olight's 30%. Caramel also leads on ads (none vs shown) and monetization model (free vs free with in-app purchases). Olight's advantage is rating (4.2 vs 3.0) and ratings volume (70 vs 2). On price, update cadence, in-app purchases and device support there is nothing between them.

Both are free to download. Neither carries in-app purchases, so what you see is what you pay.

Olight holds the better App Store score, 4.2 against 3.0. That said, the two scores are not equally well evidenced: Olight has 70 ratings behind it against 2, so its average is the more settled of the two. Written reviews complicate that: 30% of Olight's written reviews are positive against 100% of Caramel's, so the app with the better star average is not the one people write more warmly about.

Both ship on a similar rhythm, roughly every 2 weeks. The most recent releases landed on October 18, 2026 and October 20, 2026 respectively.
