# Scribe vs FoxNote

Scribe and FoxNote both sit at 4.6 stars, but that hides the real split: 29% of FoxNote's written reviews are positive against 12% of Scribe's. FoxNote also leads on iOS requirement (16.0 vs 18.6). Scribe's advantage is update cadence (weekly vs fortnightly). On price, rating, ratings volume and ads there is nothing between them.

Both are free to download. Scribe sells 4 in-app purchases, starting at $5.99 per 7 days and FoxNote sells 6 in-app purchases, starting at $6.99 per 7 days. Whichever you choose, the download price is not the number that matters.

Scribe holds the better App Store score, 4.6 against 4.5. Both are backed by a comparable volume of ratings — 624 and 344 respectively. Written reviews complicate that: 12% of Scribe's written reviews are positive against 29% of FoxNote's, so the app with the better star average is not the one people write more warmly about.

Scribe ships an update weekly, FoxNote fortnightly. The most recent releases landed on October 27, 2026 and October 28, 2026 respectively.
