# Water Wave vs Pendar

The clearest difference is monetization model: Pendar at free against Water Wave's subscription. Pendar also leads on rating (5.0 vs 4.6) and update cadence (weekly vs every 6 weeks). Water Wave's advantage is ratings volume (1.3K vs 1) and iOS requirement (13.0 vs 17.0). On price, ads, in-app purchases and device support there is nothing between them.

Both are free to download. Water Wave sells 2 in-app purchases, starting at $3.99 per 7 days and Pendar sells 3 one-off in-app purchases. Whichever you choose, the download price is not the number that matters.

Pendar holds the better App Store score, 5.0 against 4.6. That said, the two scores are not equally well evidenced: Water Wave has 1.3K ratings behind it against 1, so its average is the more settled of the two.

Water Wave ships an update every 6 weeks, Pendar weekly. The most recent releases landed on October 30, 2026 and October 29, 2026 respectively.
