# Bookwise vs SpiceRack

The clearest difference is price: Bookwise at Free against SpiceRack's $1.99. Bookwise also leads on rating (4.7 vs 1.0) and update cadence (weekly vs every 2 months). SpiceRack's advantage is review sentiment (100% vs 69%). On ads and in-app purchases there is nothing between them.

Bookwise is free to download; SpiceRack costs $1.99 up front. Bookwise sells 15 in-app purchases, starting at $3.99 per month and SpiceRack sells 4 one-off in-app purchases. Whichever you choose, the download price is not the number that matters.

Bookwise holds the better App Store score, 4.7 against 1.0. That said, the two scores are not equally well evidenced: Bookwise has 768 ratings behind it against 1, so its average is the more settled of the two. Written reviews complicate that: 69% of Bookwise's written reviews are positive against 100% of SpiceRack's, so the app with the better star average is not the one people write more warmly about.

Bookwise ships an update weekly, SpiceRack every 2 months. The most recent releases landed on October 30, 2026 and October 24, 2026 respectively.
