# Bookwise vs ToRead

The clearest difference is review sentiment: ToRead at 100% against Bookwise's 69%. ToRead also leads on monetization model (free vs free with in-app purchases) and rating (4.9 vs 4.7). Bookwise's advantage is ratings volume (768 vs 10) and update cadence (weekly vs every 4 weeks). On price, ads and in-app purchases there is nothing between them.

Both are free to download. Bookwise sells 15 in-app purchases, starting at $3.99 per month and ToRead sells 3 one-off in-app purchases. Whichever you choose, the download price is not the number that matters.

ToRead holds the better App Store score, 4.9 against 4.7. That said, the two scores are not equally well evidenced: Bookwise has 768 ratings behind it against 10, so its average is the more settled of the two. Written reviews point the same way: 69% of Bookwise's written reviews are positive against 100% of ToRead's.

Bookwise ships an update weekly, ToRead every 4 weeks. The most recent releases landed on October 30, 2026 and October 31, 2026 respectively.
