# Linguin vs Matra

The clearest difference is review sentiment: Matra at 100% against Linguin's 45%. Matra also leads on rating (4.9 vs 4.2) and ads (none vs shown). Linguin's advantage is ratings volume (169 vs 12). On price, update cadence, in-app purchases and device support there is nothing between them.

Both are free to download. Linguin sells 4 in-app purchases, starting at $8.99 per month and Matra sells 10 one-off in-app purchases. Whichever you choose, the download price is not the number that matters.

Matra holds the better App Store score, 4.9 against 4.2. That said, the two scores are not equally well evidenced: Linguin has 169 ratings behind it against 12, so its average is the more settled of the two. Written reviews point the same way: 45% of Linguin's written reviews are positive against 100% of Matra's.

Linguin ships an update fortnightly, Matra every 10 days. The most recent releases landed on October 30, 2026 and October 31, 2026 respectively.
