# Detective Stories vs Clueprit

The clearest difference is review sentiment: Detective Stories at 75% against Clueprit's 25%. Detective Stories also leads on update cadence (every 2 weeks vs every 5 weeks). Clueprit's advantage is rating (4.8 vs 4.0) and ads (none vs shown). On price, ratings volume, in-app purchases and monetization model there is nothing between them.

Both are free to download. Detective Stories sells 11 one-off in-app purchases and Clueprit sells 2 in-app purchases, starting at $3.99 per month. Whichever you choose, the download price is not the number that matters.

Clueprit holds the better App Store score, 4.8 against 4.0. Both are backed by a comparable volume of ratings — 49 and 65 respectively. Written reviews complicate that: 75% of Detective Stories's written reviews are positive against 25% of Clueprit's, so the app with the better star average is not the one people write more warmly about.

Detective Stories ships an update every 2 weeks, Clueprit every 5 weeks. Both last shipped on October 24, 2026.
