# Stratum 9 vs NoteCalc

The clearest difference is in-app purchases: Stratum 9 at none against NoteCalc's 7. Stratum 9 also leads on iOS requirement (13.4 vs 16.0). NoteCalc's advantage is update cadence (every 5 days vs every 5 weeks) and ratings volume (12 vs 2). On price, rating, ads and device support there is nothing between them.

Both are free to download. NoteCalc sells 6 in-app purchases, starting at $1.99 per month. Stratum 9 asks for nothing beyond the download.

On the App Store both sit at effectively the same score — 5.0 for Stratum 9 against 4.9 for NoteCalc. That said, the two scores are not equally well evidenced: NoteCalc has 12 ratings behind it against 2, so its average is the more settled of the two.

Stratum 9 ships an update every 5 weeks, NoteCalc every 5 days. Both last shipped on November 4, 2026.
