# My Device Finder vs Authenticator

The clearest difference is monetization model: Authenticator at free with in-app purchases against My Device Finder's subscription. Authenticator also leads on rating (3.5 vs 3.1) and ratings volume (190 vs 13). On price, update cadence, ads and in-app purchases there is nothing between them.

Both are free to download. My Device Finder sells 4 in-app purchases, starting at $5.99 per 7 days and Authenticator sells 8 in-app purchases, starting at $5.99 per 7 days. Whichever you choose, the download price is not the number that matters.

Authenticator holds the better App Store score, 3.5 against 3.1. That said, the two scores are not equally well evidenced: Authenticator has 190 ratings behind it against 13, so its average is the more settled of the two.

Both ship on a similar rhythm, roughly every 6 months. The most recent releases landed on November 4, 2026 and October 30, 2026 respectively.
