# Uinta vs Mapit GIS

The clearest difference is in-app purchases: Uinta at none against Mapit GIS's 4. Uinta also leads on ratings volume (6 vs 1) and iOS requirement (15.0 vs 17.6). Mapit GIS's advantage is update cadence (weekly vs every 2 months). On price, rating, review sentiment and ads there is nothing between them.

Both are free to download. Mapit GIS sells 4 in-app purchases, starting at $12.00 per month. Uinta asks for nothing beyond the download.

On the App Store both sit at effectively the same score — 5.0 for Uinta against 5.0 for Mapit GIS. That said, the two scores are not equally well evidenced: Uinta has 6 ratings behind it against 1, so its average is the more settled of the two. Written reviews split almost evenly too, at 100% and 100% positive.

Uinta ships an update every 2 months, Mapit GIS weekly. The most recent releases landed on October 4, 2026 and October 8, 2026 respectively.
