# Self vs Mercle

The clearest difference is rating: Mercle at 5.0 against Self's 4.4. Self's advantage is ratings volume (26 vs 1) and iOS requirement (15.4 vs 17.0). On price, update cadence, ads and in-app purchases there is nothing between them.

Both are free to download. Neither carries in-app purchases, so what you see is what you pay.

Mercle holds the better App Store score, 5.0 against 4.4. That said, the two scores are not equally well evidenced: Self has 26 ratings behind it against 1, so its average is the more settled of the two.

Self ships an update every 2 weeks, Mercle every 10 days. The most recent releases landed on November 4, 2026 and October 30, 2026 respectively.
