# Quip vs swatchbook

The clearest difference is ratings volume: Quip at 26K against swatchbook's 12. Quip also leads on review sentiment (71% vs 50%). On price, rating, update cadence and ads there is nothing between them.

Both are free to download. Neither carries in-app purchases, so what you see is what you pay.

On the App Store both sit at effectively the same score — 4.7 for Quip against 4.7 for swatchbook. That said, the two scores are not equally well evidenced: Quip has 26K ratings behind it against 12, so its average is the more settled of the two. Written reviews are what separate them: 71% of Quip's written reviews are positive against 50% of swatchbook's.

Quip ships an update every 6 weeks, swatchbook every 2 months. The most recent releases landed on October 19, 2026 and October 7, 2026 respectively.
