# Shepherd vs JW Event Notes

The clearest difference is update cadence: JW Event Notes at weekly against Shepherd's every 2 months. Shepherd's advantage is ratings volume (5 vs 1) and iOS requirement (13.0 vs 17.6). On price, rating, ads and in-app purchases there is nothing between them.

Both are free to download. Neither carries in-app purchases, so what you see is what you pay.

On the App Store both sit at effectively the same score — 5.0 for Shepherd against 5.0 for JW Event Notes. That said, the two scores are not equally well evidenced: Shepherd has 5 ratings behind it against 1, so its average is the more settled of the two.

Shepherd ships an update every 2 months, JW Event Notes weekly. The most recent releases landed on October 2, 2026 and October 28, 2026 respectively.
