# SubX vs Cube Timer

The clearest difference is update cadence: Cube Timer at monthly against SubX's every 15 months. Cube Timer also leads on rating (5.0 vs 4.8) and iOS requirement (15.6 vs 17.0). SubX's advantage is ratings volume (5 vs 1). On price, ads, in-app purchases and monetization model there is nothing between them.

Both are free to download. Neither carries in-app purchases, so what you see is what you pay.

Cube Timer holds the better App Store score, 5.0 against 4.8. That said, the two scores are not equally well evidenced: SubX has 5 ratings behind it against 1, so its average is the more settled of the two.

SubX ships an update every 15 months, Cube Timer monthly. The most recent releases landed on October 7, 2026 and October 3, 2026 respectively.
