# Frames vs PicMe

The clearest difference is rating: Frames at 4.7 against PicMe's 3.9. Frames also leads on ads (none vs shown) and ratings volume (620 vs 15). PicMe's advantage is monetization model (free with in-app purchases vs subscription). On price, review sentiment, update cadence and in-app purchases there is nothing between them.

Both are free to download. Frames sells 10 in-app purchases, starting at $4.99 per 7 days and PicMe sells 6 in-app purchases, starting at $4.99 per month. Whichever you choose, the download price is not the number that matters.

Frames holds the better App Store score, 4.7 against 3.9. That said, the two scores are not equally well evidenced: Frames has 620 ratings behind it against 15, so its average is the more settled of the two. Written reviews complicate that: 29% of Frames's written reviews are positive against 33% of PicMe's, so the app with the better star average is not the one people write more warmly about.

Frames ships an update every 5 days, PicMe weekly. The most recent releases landed on October 16, 2026 and October 18, 2026 respectively.
