# Live Caption vs Subai

The clearest difference is ads: Live Caption at none against Subai's shown. Live Caption also leads on rating (4.4 vs 4.0) and ratings volume (43 vs 4). Subai's advantage is iOS requirement (13.0 vs 15.0). On price, update cadence, in-app purchases and monetization model there is nothing between them.

Both are free to download. Live Caption sells 4 in-app purchases, starting at $7.99 per month and Subai sells 1 one-off in-app purchase. Whichever you choose, the download price is not the number that matters.

Live Caption holds the better App Store score, 4.4 against 4.0. That said, the two scores are not equally well evidenced: Live Caption has 43 ratings behind it against 4, so its average is the more settled of the two.

Live Caption ships an update every 3 weeks, Subai fortnightly. The most recent releases landed on October 18, 2026 and October 10, 2026 respectively.
