# Live Transcribe vs basalt

The clearest difference is update cadence: basalt at every 10 days against Live Transcribe's monthly. Live Transcribe's advantage is device support (3 vs 1) and iOS requirement (15.0 vs 26.0). On price, ads and in-app purchases there is nothing between them.

Both are free to download. Live Transcribe sells 9 in-app purchases, starting at $4.99 per 7 days and basalt sells 2 in-app purchases, starting at $0.99 per 7 days. Whichever you choose, the download price is not the number that matters.

Live Transcribe ships an update monthly, basalt every 10 days. The most recent releases landed on October 24, 2026 and October 16, 2026 respectively.
