# OBD2 Car Scanner vs OBD Quest

The clearest difference is rating: OBD Quest at 5.0 against OBD2 Car Scanner's 3.8. OBD Quest also leads on update cadence (every 3 weeks vs every 2 months). OBD2 Car Scanner's advantage is ratings volume (1.5K vs 1). On price, ads, in-app purchases and monetization model there is nothing between them.

Both are free to download. OBD2 Car Scanner sells 3 in-app purchases, starting at $4.99 per 7 days and OBD Quest sells 3 in-app purchases, starting at $9.99 per month. Whichever you choose, the download price is not the number that matters.

OBD Quest holds the better App Store score, 5.0 against 3.8. That said, the two scores are not equally well evidenced: OBD2 Car Scanner has 1.5K ratings behind it against 1, so its average is the more settled of the two.

OBD2 Car Scanner ships an update every 2 months, OBD Quest every 3 weeks. The most recent releases landed on October 27, 2026 and October 19, 2026 respectively.
