# Text to Speech vs WriteVoice

The clearest difference is rating: Text to Speech at 4.9 against WriteVoice's 4.4. Text to Speech also leads on ratings volume (141 vs 23). WriteVoice's advantage is update cadence (every 2 weeks vs monthly). On price, review sentiment, ads and in-app purchases there is nothing between them.

Both are free to download. Text to Speech sells 9 in-app purchases, starting at $5.99 per 7 days and WriteVoice sells 4 in-app purchases, starting at $14.99 per month. Whichever you choose, the download price is not the number that matters.

Text to Speech holds the better App Store score, 4.9 against 4.4. That said, the two scores are not equally well evidenced: Text to Speech has 141 ratings behind it against 23, so its average is the more settled of the two. Written reviews complicate that: 75% of Text to Speech's written reviews are positive against 82% of WriteVoice's, so the app with the better star average is not the one people write more warmly about.

Text to Speech ships an update monthly, WriteVoice every 2 weeks. Both last shipped on October 30, 2026.
