# StepBloc vs ScrollSteps

The clearest difference is monetization model: StepBloc at freemium against ScrollSteps's subscription. StepBloc also leads on ratings volume (497 vs 4) and update cadence (weekly vs monthly). On price, ads, in-app purchases and device support there is nothing between them.

Both are free to download. StepBloc sells 3 in-app purchases, starting at $3.99 per month and ScrollSteps sells 5 in-app purchases, starting at $17.99 per month. Whichever you choose, the download price is not the number that matters.

StepBloc holds the better App Store score, 4.5 against 4.3. That said, the two scores are not equally well evidenced: StepBloc has 497 ratings behind it against 4, so its average is the more settled of the two.

StepBloc ships an update weekly, ScrollSteps monthly. The most recent releases landed on November 4, 2026 and October 30, 2026 respectively.
