# StepBloc vs Detachd

The clearest difference is monetization model: StepBloc at freemium against Detachd's subscription. StepBloc also leads on ads (none vs shown) and ratings volume (485 vs 5). On price, rating, update cadence and in-app purchases there is nothing between them.

Both are free to download. StepBloc sells 3 in-app purchases, starting at $3.99 per month and Detachd sells 4 in-app purchases, starting at $6.99 per 7 days. Whichever you choose, the download price is not the number that matters.

On the App Store both sit at effectively the same score — 4.5 for StepBloc against 4.4 for Detachd. That said, the two scores are not equally well evidenced: StepBloc has 485 ratings behind it against 5, so its average is the more settled of the two.

StepBloc ships an update weekly, Detachd every 5 days. The most recent releases landed on October 16, 2026 and October 1, 2026 respectively.
