# Koto AI Reader vs PDF Reader

The clearest difference is rating: PDF Reader at 5.0 against Koto AI Reader's 4.5. Koto AI Reader's advantage is ratings volume (154 vs 1) and iOS requirement (16.0 vs 18.1). On price, update cadence, ads and in-app purchases there is nothing between them.

Both are free to download. Koto AI Reader sells 8 in-app purchases, starting at $6.99 per 7 days and PDF Reader sells 1 one-off in-app purchase. Whichever you choose, the download price is not the number that matters.

PDF Reader holds the better App Store score, 5.0 against 4.5. That said, the two scores are not equally well evidenced: Koto AI Reader has 154 ratings behind it against 1, so its average is the more settled of the two.

Koto AI Reader ships an update every 2 weeks, PDF Reader every 3 weeks. The most recent releases landed on October 22, 2026 and October 5, 2026 respectively.
