# GWSCAN vs CarMD Connect

The clearest difference is review sentiment: GWSCAN at 68% against CarMD Connect's 0%. GWSCAN also leads on ratings volume (83 vs 8) and iOS requirement (12.0 vs 15.6). CarMD Connect's advantage is monetization model (free vs paid) and update cadence (every 3 weeks vs every 2 months). On price, ads, in-app purchases and device support there is nothing between them.

Both are free to download. Neither carries in-app purchases, so what you see is what you pay.

CarMD Connect holds the better App Store score, 4.5 against 4.3. That said, the two scores are not equally well evidenced: GWSCAN has 83 ratings behind it against 8, so its average is the more settled of the two. Written reviews complicate that: 68% of GWSCAN's written reviews are positive against 0% of CarMD Connect's, so the app with the better star average is not the one people write more warmly about.

GWSCAN ships an update every 2 months, CarMD Connect every 3 weeks. The most recent releases landed on October 14, 2026 and October 6, 2026 respectively.
