# Automath vs MathGPT

Automath and MathGPT both sit at 4.7 stars, but that hides the real split: 82% of MathGPT's written reviews are positive against 29% of Automath's. MathGPT also leads on ratings volume (6.1K vs 273) and chart position (#162 vs unranked). Automath's advantage is ads (none vs shown) and iOS requirement (13.0 vs 16.4). On price, rating, update cadence and in-app purchases there is nothing between them.

Both are free to download. Automath sells 3 in-app purchases, starting at $6.99 per month and MathGPT sells 8 in-app purchases, starting at $9.99 per month. Whichever you choose, the download price is not the number that matters.

On the App Store both sit at effectively the same score — 4.7 for Automath against 4.8 for MathGPT. That said, the two scores are not equally well evidenced: MathGPT has 6.1K ratings behind it against 273, so its average is the more settled of the two. Written reviews are what separate them: 29% of Automath's written reviews are positive against 82% of MathGPT's.

Automath ships an update every 2 weeks, MathGPT fortnightly. The most recent releases landed on October 6, 2026 and October 13, 2026 respectively.
