# Echo VPN vs TheGreenWhale

The clearest difference is review sentiment: Echo VPN at 63% against TheGreenWhale's 0%. Echo VPN also leads on monetization model (free with in-app purchases vs subscription) and ratings volume (9 vs 1). TheGreenWhale's advantage is rating (5.0 vs 4.3) and ads (none vs shown). On price, in-app purchases, device support and iOS requirement there is nothing between them.

Both are free to download. Echo VPN sells 4 in-app purchases, starting at $2.99 per month and TheGreenWhale sells 3 in-app purchases, starting at $1.99 per 7 days. Whichever you choose, the download price is not the number that matters.

TheGreenWhale holds the better App Store score, 5.0 against 4.3. That said, the two scores are not equally well evidenced: Echo VPN has 9 ratings behind it against 1, so its average is the more settled of the two. Written reviews complicate that: 63% of Echo VPN's written reviews are positive against 0% of TheGreenWhale's, so the app with the better star average is not the one people write more warmly about.

Echo VPN ships an update every 6 weeks, TheGreenWhale fortnightly. The most recent releases landed on October 24, 2026 and October 16, 2026 respectively.
