# Japan VPN vs ShanKeyboard

The clearest difference is ratings volume: Japan VPN at 761 against ShanKeyboard's 5. Japan VPN also leads on iOS requirement (16.0 vs 18.6). ShanKeyboard's advantage is review sentiment (100% vs 83%). On price, rating, update cadence and ads there is nothing between them.

Both are free to download. Neither carries in-app purchases, so what you see is what you pay.

Japan VPN holds the better App Store score, 4.6 against 4.4. That said, the two scores are not equally well evidenced: Japan VPN has 761 ratings behind it against 5, so its average is the more settled of the two. Written reviews complicate that: 83% of Japan VPN's written reviews are positive against 100% of ShanKeyboard's, so the app with the better star average is not the one people write more warmly about.

Both ship on a similar rhythm, roughly every 2 months. The most recent releases landed on October 28, 2026 and October 24, 2026 respectively.
