# Mindsnap vs Nova

The clearest difference is review sentiment: Mindsnap at 48% against Nova's 0%. Mindsnap also leads on update cadence (weekly vs every 3 months) and ratings volume (297 vs 1). Nova's advantage is ads (none vs shown) and rating (5.0 vs 4.6). On price, in-app purchases, monetization model and device support there is nothing between them.

Both are free to download. Mindsnap sells 12 in-app purchases, starting at $5.99 per 7 days and Nova sells 1 in-app purchase, starting at $19.99 per year. Whichever you choose, the download price is not the number that matters.

Nova holds the better App Store score, 5.0 against 4.6. That said, the two scores are not equally well evidenced: Mindsnap has 297 ratings behind it against 1, so its average is the more settled of the two. Written reviews complicate that: 48% of Mindsnap's written reviews are positive against 0% of Nova's, so the app with the better star average is not the one people write more warmly about.

Mindsnap ships an update weekly, Nova every 3 months. The most recent releases landed on October 18, 2026 and October 13, 2026 respectively.
