# Readingo vs CHM Reader

Readingo and CHM Reader both sit at 4.8 stars, but that hides the real split: 93% of Readingo's written reviews are positive against 43% of CHM Reader's. Readingo also leads on ratings volume (118 vs 2) and update cadence (every 9 days vs monthly). On price, rating, ads and in-app purchases there is nothing between them.

Both are free to download. Readingo sells 1 one-off in-app purchase and CHM Reader sells 3 in-app purchases, starting at $1.99 per 7 days. Whichever you choose, the download price is not the number that matters.

CHM Reader holds the better App Store score, 5.0 against 4.8. That said, the two scores are not equally well evidenced: Readingo has 118 ratings behind it against 2, so its average is the more settled of the two. Written reviews complicate that: 93% of Readingo's written reviews are positive against 43% of CHM Reader's, so the app with the better star average is not the one people write more warmly about.

Readingo ships an update every 9 days, CHM Reader monthly. The most recent releases landed on October 30, 2026 and October 31, 2026 respectively.
