# LEGO® Play vs emagineer

The clearest difference is rating: LEGO® Play at 4.5 against emagineer's 3.4. LEGO® Play also leads on in-app purchases (none vs 4) and ratings volume (13K vs 19). emagineer's advantage is review sentiment (53% vs 43%). On price, ads, device support and iOS requirement there is nothing between them.

Both are free to download. emagineer sells 4 in-app purchases, starting at $14.99 per year. LEGO® Play asks for nothing beyond the download.

LEGO® Play holds the better App Store score, 4.5 against 3.4. That said, the two scores are not equally well evidenced: LEGO® Play has 13K ratings behind it against 19, so its average is the more settled of the two. Written reviews complicate that: 43% of LEGO® Play's written reviews are positive against 53% of emagineer's, so the app with the better star average is not the one people write more warmly about.

LEGO® Play ships an update weekly, emagineer fortnightly. The most recent releases landed on November 4, 2026 and October 30, 2026 respectively.
