# Shiner vs BMS Insight

The clearest difference is rating: BMS Insight at 3.0 against Shiner's 1.7. BMS Insight also leads on iOS requirement (12.0 vs 15.6). Shiner's advantage is update cadence (every 5 weeks vs every 6 months) and review sentiment (18% vs 0%). On price, ads, in-app purchases and monetization model there is nothing between them.

Both are free to download. Neither carries in-app purchases, so what you see is what you pay.

BMS Insight holds the better App Store score, 3.0 against 1.7. That said, the two scores are not equally well evidenced: Shiner has 20 ratings behind it against 1, so its average is the more settled of the two. Written reviews complicate that: 18% of Shiner's written reviews are positive against 0% of BMS Insight's, so the app with the better star average is not the one people write more warmly about.

Shiner ships an update every 5 weeks, BMS Insight every 6 months. The most recent releases landed on October 2, 2026 and October 3, 2026 respectively.
