# InsectID vs FTP

The clearest difference is in-app purchases: FTP at none against InsectID's 1. FTP also leads on ads (none vs shown) and update cadence (daily vs every 5 weeks). InsectID's advantage is iOS requirement (15.5 vs 26.0). On price and device support there is nothing between them.

Both are free to download. InsectID sells 1 one-off in-app purchase. FTP asks for nothing beyond the download.

InsectID ships an update every 5 weeks, FTP daily. The most recent releases landed on September 30, 2026 and October 6, 2026 respectively.
