# Fish vs The Kindling App

The clearest difference is in-app purchases: Fish at none against The Kindling App's 1. The Kindling App's advantage is update cadence (every 2 days vs fortnightly) and ratings volume (9 vs 1). On price, rating, ads and device support there is nothing between them.

Both are free to download. The Kindling App sells 1 one-off in-app purchase. Fish asks for nothing beyond the download.

On the App Store both sit at effectively the same score — 5.0 for Fish against 5.0 for The Kindling App. That said, the two scores are not equally well evidenced: The Kindling App has 9 ratings behind it against 1, so its average is the more settled of the two.

Fish ships an update fortnightly, The Kindling App every 2 days. The most recent releases landed on October 24, 2026 and October 31, 2026 respectively.
