# Readmax vs ReadUp

The clearest difference is ads: ReadUp at none against Readmax's shown. ReadUp also leads on update cadence (every 10 days vs monthly) and iOS requirement (13.4 vs 18.2). On price, in-app purchases and device support there is nothing between them.

Both are free to download. Readmax sells 2 in-app purchases, starting at $3.99 per month and ReadUp sells 3 in-app purchases, starting at $1.99 per month. Whichever you choose, the download price is not the number that matters.

Readmax ships an update monthly, ReadUp every 10 days. The most recent releases landed on September 20, 2026 and September 13, 2026 respectively.
