# Rumor vs Scan

The clearest difference is rating: Scan at 5.0 against Rumor's 3.5. Scan also leads on iOS requirement (13.0 vs 16.4). Rumor's advantage is ads (none vs shown) and ratings volume (53 vs 1). On price, update cadence, in-app purchases and device support there is nothing between them.

Both are free to download. Neither carries in-app purchases, so what you see is what you pay.

Scan holds the better App Store score, 5.0 against 3.5. That said, the two scores are not equally well evidenced: Rumor has 53 ratings behind it against 1, so its average is the more settled of the two.

Rumor ships an update every 5 days, Scan weekly. The most recent releases landed on November 5, 2026 and October 30, 2026 respectively.
